After a quite high level of interest in a poll, I have gathered up all the raw files I have from RGANTD releases on the Soviet Space Program, and have made them available for $10 for one week, going up to $12.
What do you get?
These are generally low to medium resolution scans, and a mix of title pages, text, and illustrations. Each image has also been run through Yandex Translate, so you have a computer translated version available. Note that Yandex retains the text position, so you get diagrams labelled in (bad) English. All the computer translation I have used is bad at acronyms, and in this case it’s complicated by Russian letters with no English equivalents.
Many subjects are covered but there’s more focus on plans for advanced Moon missions, and the RLA rocket family, (which evolved into Vulkan, then into Energia / Buran).
I've arranged them according to the RGANTD structure in folders by:
Fond (фонд) = literally 'fund' but more accurately "Collection"
Opis' (опись) = literally 'inventory' which means a group listing of files within a Fond
Delo (дело) = literally 'file' (as in a folder containing documents within an Opis).
List (лист) = 'leaf' or 'page'
This will make it easy to add new pages.
The front page is included for every document, for example:
Here’s an example diagram, showing 2 launch N1 lunar mission profiles, original and Yandex translated:
Target Audience
This is not really intended for a general audience, and will be of greatest interest to those who already know something of the Soviet Space Program. But as that’s the subject of this substack, maybe that’s you!
Rights & Ownership
I make no claims of copyright on these files, you are basically paying me to save yourself the effort of rummaging through wobbly Russian websites. Enhanced and enlarged versions are NOT included.
